Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance
Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance, Hilton Head, SC – STuTZ has been selected as the Honored Marque for the 2021 Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance Sunday, November 7, 2021, the final day of the Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival. Billed for its ‘classic grace’ and ‘commanding action’, Hilton Head Island will feature three distinct groupings to best showcase the history and evolution of the marque:
STuTZ 1911-1925
STuTZ 1926 – 1935 Open
STuTZ 1926 – 1935 Closed
In addition to the Honored Marque classes featured in the Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, November 7, guests will also have access to a display of STuTZ on Saturday, November 6 as the STuTZ Club will host their annual Grand STuTZ on the Motoring Festival’s Awards Park.

Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance
1914 STUTZ BEARCAT
Owned by Brian White – Apex, North Carolina
A former Best of Show winner at the 2016 Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance, this Bearcat was purchased from Dr Harvey Carter of Dallas , TX. Harvey purchased the car from the AK Miller auction in 1995. The car is powered by a Wisconsin four cylinder, 360 cubit inch engine production 80 HP.

1920 STUTZ BEARCAT MODEL H
Owned by Robert S. Jepson, Jr. – Savannah, Georgia
The 1920 STuTZ Bearcat Model H was designed to be the sportiest of road cars in its time. The car has no doors and ingress and egress are by a step plate on the left side of the automobile. The car has a 360 cubic inch flat head four-cylinder engine, producing 83 horsepower. In its day, it turned heads and today, one hundred years later, it continues to do so.

1923 HCS 4 DOOR TOURING
Owned by Jim Aldrich -Raleigh, North Carolina
“The other car that Harry built” Harry Clayton Stutz, left the Stutz Motor Co. in 1919. He then formed the HCS Company, and in 2005, The Stutz club President stated this is the only 1923 Series IV, Model IV, 4 cyl. known to exist, and it has achieved the North Carolina’s Red Bird award. Harry Stutz died at age 54 in 1930 in Florida. Some say the Red and Green side lights attached to this car are a reference to Harry’s aeronautical interest.

1930 STUTZ M SPEEDSTER
Owned by Carl Jensen – Mukwonago, Wisconsin
This 1930 Model M 2-passenger Speedster, body by LeBaron has the short wheelbase and optional HC (high compression) engine. One of 3 remaining of this particular model/year and each one has slight differences. It is unique with a two-tone interior and engine turned dash. Featured with a photo in an Indianapolis newspaper in 1962 when then owner Sam Dinnin, a retired naval aviator, ran the car 100 mph at the Indy Motor Speedway. It was featured in a 1970 Automobile Quarterly and used again in 1982 as a centerfold photo for Stutz specific issue of AQ. AQ also featured the car in the “America’s World Class Car” poster.

1930 STUTZ M Monte Carlo
Owned by Mark Hyman -St. Louis, MO
This is one of just three Model M Monte Carlo sedans from the Stutz “Chateau Series” built on the large 145-inch wheelbase chassis. This car once belonged to the reclusive Stutz collector/hoarder A.K. Miller. In the mid 1970s, Sherwood Kahlenberg persuaded Miller to sell it to him. In 2000, Andy Simo had RM Restorations perform a full concours restoration. Ken Nemenic masterfully restored the interior and body. The Model M features the 322 cubic-inch overhead cam inline eight with cross-flow valves. This car has won Best in Class at Pebble Beach in 2002 and 2015, Most Elegant Closed Car at Amelia Island in 2005, Best in Class at Amelia in 2015, and Best in Show 2004 Glenmoor Gathering.

1932 STUTZ DV 32 PHAETON
Owned by George Holman – Wilbraham, Massachusettes
One of only three known to exist, the ’32 STuTZ DV 32 Phaeton has been shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and at the 1932 New York Auto Show.
