Would it be inaccurate to say Ferrari is the world’s most desired car? Sure, maybe you had a Lamborghini on your wall as a kid, but Ferrari is the marque to which all cars are compared for countless folks around the world. When they say, “Racing improves the breed,” they are thinking of Ferrari.
So, does it pain your itty-bitty heart to see this sort of destruction? Like watching someone’s leg break or Lena Dunham show some skin, ya gotta wince and turn away. Once the blisters on your eyes subside, read on for the story.
According to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, the owner of a certain Ferrari Roma had his/her vehicle at a Florida dealership. While using the car elevator, there was a malfunction that resulted in this Ferrari Roma hanging and, subsequently, falling into the shaft. In fact, it was quite a harrowing experience as the owner was taking his/her car up to the third floor when, upon entering the parking garage, the elevator gave way, giving the owner just enough time to escape from the vehicle.
The Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Battalion 10 and Special Operations units’ initial response was to mitigate a fuel leak by installing portable standpipes and cutting the power to the business. Once those were secure, the crews worked with a towing company’s rotator wrecker (think of a tow truck for a tractor-trailer with a crane-like arm that can rotate 360 degrees) to hoist the Ferrari and bring it to terra ferma. All told, the whole operation took four hours.
Luckily, there were no injuries aside of, perhaps, some egos and feelings.
